St. Francis shadow

The Long View...

by Ruthie Robinson, Board President

As the wet summer of 2007 has come and gone, I am yet again excited and truly looking forward to beginning my second term as President of the St. Francis School Board of Directors. Looking back on the 2006-07 school year, much was accomplised with the support of fellow board members and volunteers alike. As we look forward to the 2007-08 school season, I would like to continue execution of our 5 year strategic plan with clear emphasis on the following 3 objectives:

1. Facilities - Completion of the new gym. Between now and next fall, we hope to finish-out the new gym complete with the addition of a new classroom, storage room, foyer, coach office for both coaches and concession stand.

2. Phase III Construction - We have already begun reviewing Phase III plans for the existing structure with the goal in mind to create more space to accommodate the Learning Center, Technology Lab, Arts & Music Department. Our clear objective will be to finalize these plans in 2007-08 by completing the architectural layouts, budgetary estimates, and implementing plans for a solid external marketing and funding campaign.

3. Development - With the addition earlier this year of our new Development Director, Peggy Hanley, we will leverage upon her vast experience and expertise to increase our school's visibility within our external community, achieve the financial targets of this year's Pinnacle Project campaign and most importantly, generate external funding through grants and donations.

We have come very far in the past few years and I'm eager with anticipation on where we're headed in the future. St. Francis School has meant and done so much for me and my family over the past 8 years. I am deeply honored to be your board president. If I had one parting message for the parents this year, it would be to "get involved...whenever and wherever." St. Francis is a special institution with high expectations for our students, faculty and parents alike; I'd ask that you do your part through volunteering to make St. Francis School one of Austin's best.
