LEIGH MCCARY, MD
Leigh arrived at St Francis School in 2014 when her son entered third grade. He came to St Francis after having difficult experiences at 2 prior elementary schools due to his learning differences, including dyslexia. He truly blossomed at St. Francis with its inclusive approach to learning, it’s wonderful, committed faculty, and the learning center. With the skills he learned at St Francis, he is currently a successful high school sophomore.
Leigh grew up in Austin, graduating from St Stephen’s Episcopal School. She attended Dartmouth College and earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in the Social Sciences. She then earned her medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and is a board-certified family physician. After several years in clinical practice, she transitioned to working with the state of Texas and the Social Security Administration in the field of disability assessments. She has served on the board since the summer of 2020 and has been most involved with COVID-related policies and procedures. Leigh is eternally grateful to Barbara and the St Francis community in providing a place of learning for a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. She is committed to helping St Francis continue in this mission during this time of transition.
