My Bio

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! (Welcome to Spanish class!)

My name is Brenda Bazaldua but you can call me Lola! I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Spanish, This 2017-2018 school year will be the one to introduce new online  language programs as part of our classroom so it will be very exciting!

I started my language teaching career in 2009. Languages are my passion in life so in 2010 I opened a language school. After my experience owning and running a business I decided that teaching was my biggest strength and what I enjoyed the most so I continued to prepare myself in this field by getting multiple certifications as a language instructor:

- University of Houston, Houston, Texas  - Accelerated Learning Methodology

- International Centre for Desuggestology, Viena, Austria - Training in Suggestopedia-Desuggestive teaching

- Rice University, Houston Texas - IB Language A and B in Spanish

I performed as Head Chairman for the Foreign Language Department in the Headwaters Schools (formerly Khabele School) from 2008-20012. During this time I continued to work in several capacities language-related with multiple schools in Austin:  St. Stephens, St. Andrews and St. Michaels among them.

In 2012, I was lucky to come across Mrs. Porter and the amazing community of St. Francis. Since then, St. Francis has been my extended family.

If you are around St. Francis and you feel like practicing some of your skills in Spanish, French, Portuguese or Italian, come by my classroom!
