Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

Since you clicked here you already know my name is Jim Parker, sometimes P-Dawg when I am coaching. I am a transplanted Michigander (Lansing area) who moved to Texas in the fall of 1996. Before that, I also lived in St. Louis, MO; Cadiz, Spain; Brooklyn, New York; and Atlanta, GA.

Shortly after moving to the great city of Austin, I was hired to teach 4th grade at St. Francis, and I have been there since. I taught 4th grade for three years before being moved to the Middle School. In my 18 years at St. Francis Middle School I have taught 6th-8th grade Language Arts, Algebra, Geometry, Cooking, Film History, Theatre, and Health. I have also coached Basketball, Track, and Ultimate Frisbee. I was the Middle School Coordinator for more than ten years (until we became too large for only one coordinator). Since then I have been the 7th grade coordinator.

I am also a poet and a lover of poetry. I have been co-editor on several issues of El Lobo. My Wednesday morning poetry group (called The Living Poetry Society) has been meeting for around 15 years. You all should come join us some Wednesday morning.

Here's to another fabulous school year. Go Wolfpack!
