Welcome to St. Francis!

I began my teaching career in Austin, Texas at NYOS Charter School where I taught a mixed age kindergarten/first grade class. I moved to New York City and taught pre-k at a private school in Battery Park City. I used the Reggio-Emilia and Project approach, which has an emphasis on creative expression and student led learning. After 2 years, I relocated to Austin and had my son, Avey. After staying home with him for a year and a half, I began teaching again and found myself at St. Francis School. I've been teaching pre-k here ever since and couldnt be happier. I love being able to curate my curriculum and tailor it to each students needs. I draw from Montessori, Reggio-Emilia and brain based theories and keep current in my field through continuing education, articles and courses.

I am originally from Canada, but moved overseas when I was 4 years old. My family moved from Indonesia, to Ecuador and then back to Indonesia. I graduated high school and moved to Canada to begin University. It was way too cold up north after growing up in the tropics, so I made my way to Houston and then Austin. Growing up overseas exposed me to cultures, languages and diversity at a young age. This helped me develop my passion for teaching social and emotional skill to help children learn empathy, acceptance and mindfulness. When I'm not in the classroom you can find me drinking coffee at my local coffee shop, knitting, watching tv or chauffeuring my son around town. He is now in Kindergarten and I'm impressed with the level of education he has received at SFS and the caring community we have been surrounded by.
