good evening welcome to the latest Saint Francis webinar I limit hearing I'm a physician board member and a former parent with a child who graduated in May of 2020 this will be a two-part webinar the first part by myself covering it reopening policies and procedures as well as some policy revisions the second part will be by Missy Porter she is a San Francisco grandmother PhD in nursing she's retired from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center I'm planning to answer questions at the conclusion of do please use the Q&A function for that not the chat we have a lot to cover so let's get to the material the first I'd like to give you some insight into the process for developing our policies procedures and reopening plans there in about 13 significant revisions various authorities between May and August of 2020 our guidelines were written in July and deliver the policy committee on July 20th at that time Barbara requested a condensed version as well it also came to life there will be more guidelines forthcoming especially from the Texas Medical Association in public health procedures on August 14th ntma followed on August 17th during his presentation and to be honest the foreseeable time and during school please keep these thoughts in mind this is the news and a new situation for all of us and expect changes a science and understanding of this virus involves the both of the reopening plan and procedures have come from this document from a hotel Public Health in Orem guidance for reopening for austin-travis County reliable source for school also we fall under this order from the city of Austin as written here each school that offers instructions to students and one more grades pre-kindergarten through grade well must follow the phases unless it will result in loss of funding from the Texas Education Agency the most recent stay-at-home asking otherwise be aware of August 14th so the part that it's referencing in the phased-in is an exhibit at the end is a direct copy of the same awesome so we are also obligated to follow these guidelines so let's talk about the Austin Public Health so I think many of you were familiar with these stages these are the Ausable tell stages it's so awesome hotels has metrics for assessing Stars Kobe 2 activity in our community and based upon these This Is Us restate many of you have seen these awesome the awesome Account dashboard or heard the mayor State what stage we're in these are the same stages I will be talking about with respect to the school reopening each stage Define permitted activities Stage 5 is the worst in stage one is the best so during Stage 5 we have widespread uncontrolled transmission threatening our Healthcare infrastructure in stage 4 we have substantial uncontrolled Transmission in stage 3 we have substantial controlled transmission stage 2 minimal the modern Transmission in stage one is no.2 minimal transmission so in the reopening guidance awesome account has multiple categories of mitigation strategies most of them are the Same by stage I would really like to go through house Francis addressing each of these strategies by categories you'll see them written up in white on the top about the stages and you'll notice if they're mostly the same with the exception of in the physical distancing we are permitted to have lessons physical missing in stage 2 and Stage 1 however is intention to Saint Francis to remain at 6 weeks is equidistant things throughout the time that these guidelines resource are we feeling this okay so first of all first categories ventilation air quality we are using premium HVAC filters and increase the schedule filter changes from two to three times per year we have added uv-led are pure tires to every HVAC system that can handle it including the gym which is 22 units in total for the other in wall units where we could not put in the internal UV purifiers we have installed portable UV air purifier in the classrooms and their schedule filter changes are twice as often as a manufacturer suggested we have a number of newer HVAC units that already have fresh air induction system and we're looking at ways to modify the others drama fresh area the next category is the Homebase symptom and temperature screening at st. Francis we are going to use the Magnus app for home screening prior to arrival on campus and they'll be more information about that app the cleaning and disinfecting will be doing electrostatic disinfecting spray nice night using a card to jump Rockside disinfectant it is on the list of the CDC recommended disinfectant for Star City to we also have protocol for increased bleeding throughout the day next category school at all grade levels including in the middle school breaks I think you all know that by now will be using 60 at all awesome Public Health stages is also plexiglass in the bathrooms and I'll see you and we also be placing stickers and spine provide a reminder to maintain appropriate distance we have eliminated or Gatherings as you know we're also eliminated in the shared materials and Equipment category a limiting these water fountains or adding the bottle fill station in Los be using individual supplies in class for hand hygiene there will be additional training for students faculty and staff there's additional hand sanitizer stations provided and we'll be having signs reminder for proper hand-washing teachers I will be running students assessed by X the day last leave his face covering and we'll be using uniform at Universal Universal masking is high-quality mask so now that we've briefly touched on that let's go over the specific guidance for coming back into school so this is again. And there's a percentage of the school so if you can talk looking at this document that we need to Stage 5 when we have widespread uncontrolled transmission that threatening her healthcare structure we will be in stage 4 we can have up to two 5% of 25% capacity on Campus Learning in stage 3 we can have up to 50% on Campus Learning and Stage 2 we can have up to 75% and then stage 1 we can have up to 100% capacity this is another critical component of the reopening this is also direct from that same document the Office of Public Health in our guidance is regarding how two-faced people in and so it stays awesome school district and school begin school should only increase capacity to the next higher percentage is able to safely do so and she remained at each percentage level for a minimum of two weeks and collaborate with off my book out before moving to next level so even though we are currently in stage 3 where it says that we can have up to 50% and can't on campus Austin Public Health guidelines States we need to start at 25% and then stays up so we will not be starting with this e percent at the school before we get too deep into the actual plan this is reminder about the hundred percent virtual it is what it is also available for any student it is open to anybody so here is a tentative plan the priority for Incubus one grade level with the priority given to the younger one who is Grace 2 3 and 4 lower middle school for is the upper middle school plan start date for on-campus learning to group one is September 8th so good to maybe face into school after the following occurs we are at least it Austin Public House dates for your bedroom and it has been at least three weeks since Group 1 has started without significant problems with the procedures protocols or 3 maybe facing the school after the following we have to be at at least eight possible tell stage 2 or better and it's been at least two weeks since we're to have started without significant problem it may be possible that good for could be phased into in-person voting during awesome Hotel stage 2A Saint Francis is not at full capacity and there will also be some 100% virtual Learners and then grade levels so if or would not increase the capacity about 75% effaced enduring off stage two. that your for might be virtual definitely stage 1 all groups can be permitted on campus and as reminder the virtual option is available for any wanting it during all stages you like the nurse the time between groups 1 and 2 is 3 weeks and not do this is because the policies and procedures are the very new to everyone and we really need to get them perfected before adding more students is lower risk and safer to work out the issues the smaller group so that it is a bit more cautious at first but we are considering it a safety issue start over to only need two weeks between acceptable transition so at this point in time if we're able to enact this plan with no unexpected guests will you be looking at the week of September 8th through Route 1 around September 28th I think that says to but the earliest be October 12th at 3 and then the early for would be October 26th earliest possible date nobody talked about those what's talk about some things to expect when the time to be starting to be on campus is approaching so in the two weeks before returning to campus the first thing is we will need you to quarantine by that we mean stay-at-home limit the contacts out your side your immediate household to limit outings to those that are only truly necessary and where am asking Yusuf this is designed to decrease the likelihood that someone would come in with a kobet infection on day one also during this time is a good time to get the Magnus app and learn how to use it and also very good time to practice spinning and wearing the mask during the time that you're actually attending school on campus daily will be using the Magnus app to symptoms raining in the temperature check and have you stay home until or if you had an exposure to a possible contact we also are asking that you please try to maintain support Integrity both inside and out side of the school so what we're trying to do is a tempting not only to stop reading an infection within the school but also to try and decrease the potential contacts that could possibly be bringing in * 72 in outside the school so how do we do that first recommended to avoid in-person extracurriculars as this increases the number of potential towed contact so please try to limit in open contacts to those new school for about like if your child has an extracurricular that is very important to him her them please consider that your child may be better suited as a hundred percent virtual honor for now now that I'm going through those I have some last housing visions and reminders to go through so the first one is this is the case the child is in them treated as a presumptive positive case and subject to the 10 days isolation would return to school only after the 10 days from the onset of the symptoms 24 hours fever free and improve symptom as an entire slide seeking medical attention and go to testing is encouraged but again will not change the return to school criteria a close contact is often defined as being within Francis school and I will be talking to this evening about four different areas one is the seasonal flu or influenza and talking about the importance of her flu shot the second or the second part is 3% that will allow us to be back on campus wanted to use of face face mask and we'll be talking about the proper way to put on a face mask way to wear a face mask and then removed we're going to discuss hand washing and hand sanitizers and then a little bit about social distancing and throughout this part of the talk I'll be referring to the Francis return to learn so if I talk about a page number in first back to the school policy book for getting us open this fall to keep the students at Saint Francis School save this we're encouraging the seasonal influenza vaccine for all who are able to take the vaccine or the flu shot the Public Health Service is projecting that we will probably have a significance influenza season this winter and the Public Health Service also was very concerned about what they call us when dammit and this is the seasonal flu in conjunction with covid-19 if a person has the flu and then the village it should be much more serious case and if the two viruses occur together is considered disastrous give you a little bit of History during 2019 only 45% of adults in the United States received a flu vaccine the drug companies are ramping up production this year and they're increasing numbers like 3 million doses but if a large percentage of the populations decides to vaccinate this may be a real supply problem are the vaccine may not be available the vaccine Isabel Google Now quite early to have it already in August but it is available at your doctor are through the pharmacy two weeks to develop antibodies that will give us the immunity it is recommended to get the exact same early before the virus starts to spread in the community to keep things France to school safe who should get the vaccine the CDC recommends that everyone six months of age or older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year by the end of October we are recommending that the students as well as everyone in the household 6 months are over if they are able to take the back seat if there are other people that are in your lot of clothes to the family grandparents is Nanny they should also receive the vaccine as well as teachers staff and anyone who entering the limit our discussion to face mask since this is what we will be using St Francis and I have one of the first ones I'm so proud We will be using cloth masks not medical grade face covering like you school now we have two wireless challenge children we have to remember that the use of face masks is just as the children have learned that had to learn to put on a bike helmet and I had to learn to use so now I'm fortunately we have to pee how do you say smile and I want to give you some helpful hints to make the process a little less scary for the children went one of the recommended is to both you and your child put on your masks at home Premier together and talk about it take a look and see how you look see if it's your kind of a mess and then if it's if it doesn't help for the child to make sure that we don't have any brilliant negativism it's the way it has to be and what's important gas masks how can I receive with your bodmas feeling nice and it talks about the design and on the bottom here talks about how to wash your mail it does say that you can pull your mask I'm around your neck for asking us not to ask that we don't want them around the neck we don't want them on the top of the head this is very helpful on how to wash your man that's lost mask must be washed daily are after each day's use are before using them again they would take off their masks recommends having a special container with a lid to keep the mask separate until a few can be washed together so you may put that in your lawn with your laundry review keep your laundry and that way you can while they're at school they will be given one of the Disposable Maps now let's learn how to properly wear a face mask since the this program is for parents or going to talk mainly about how Karen but we will talk about how to remove an app properly want to make sure that it's not the most important thing is to make sure that you can breathe easily want to make sure your child was comfortable in the past and we don't want them we don't want them we don't want and we're going to have to teach the children please and if you do the child should be using some hand sanitizer if you have your mask on and you need to sneeze or you need to call we're going to teach the children the smaller children how to do a realistic needs and a gorilla is that when you're feeling you simply put your head right into your arm like a gorilla and you're going to sneeze or cough into the mask you did not read the mask if it looks down on your nose it maybe that you need to adjust the ear Loops a little bit later how to remove them before you remove your mask we're going to ask that you wash your hands or use a hand sanitizer before we ever touch the mask we don't we want you to avoid the mask itself but you remove the mass by the loops that are going around around your ears and then you going to put the mask together with the contaminated sides together and then if this if the students at school or if they're if they're at school they're going to put them right onto their little lanyard but if they're going home and they're in the car they should have a plastic bag in the backpack in one of their little pockets in the backpack and they could put it in there and then when they get home they can take out the bank and actually put it and wear whatever you wherever you want me to put it until you're ready to wash I'm sorry to be able to wash your mask so you're only going to touch it by your ear loops and gently lift and remove the mask over together and then put it in the backpack your hands are to sanitize your hands after removing a little bit of work but I think it's all there and this beautiful beautiful videos available through the links that are in Europe okay are the washing of your hand the washing hands with soap and water is the best way to get rid of coding viruses use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol with soap and water are not available and I have a bottle of hand sanitizer gear if you come to the ingredients section you'll see that it will tell you that this is ethyl alcohol 70% but it does a wonderful job keeping your hands clean particular on brand that has 70% but it's recommended that the hand sanitizer 60% now you're going to when you enter st. Francis this year you're going to find hand sanitizer stations throughout the building and hand sanitizer hand sanitizer bottle with hand sanitizer in the classroom hand sanitizers will be practiced by staff and students on entering and exiting the building when putting on or removing your mask and before lunch before and after break after playing Outdoors coming back into the school it's recommended when stretching items that may have been touched by others and if you touch your own mess and he said it was going to be so it would be best if you could use some hand sanitizer I'm kind of camera person Carolyn and I are going to go over to the sink so that can demonstrate how to how to do the how to wash your hands but before that I just like to mention one one very important I want you to be aware that any of the alcohol-based hand sanitizer can cause alcohol poisoning if more than a couple of mouthfuls of alcohol or swallow so we should keep these hands down price of bottle of young children and supervise their used by Eddie child so we're going to go over now to the to the kitchen we are home and we will go through the five steps falster about washing your hands available on the website we're going to and then we're going to go through make sure that our fingers are clean and then we're going to wash how do we know how long we could watch her name well would you recommend that we happy birthday text Scott. 22nd and Atkinson probably a little bit you have brought your hand I need to go in between our fingers while we're doing our hand washing and then we are going to Americana Drive in with a drive-thru and then we're going to drive with a dry towel and then we will put this towel Ma if you have any questions about that you can let us know I would like for just a couple of minutes to talk to you a little bit about what we'll be doing some social distancing social this thing is all instinct is also called physical distance and it means a space between yourself and other people who are not from The Roundhouse ho practice social distance we must a 62 arm apart from others for not from your house phone and Carolyn my daughter asked her for some dark who is at Saint Francis what you thought and he's going to be going into second grade in second grade and she asked him what what he thought 60 turbo I think that's about you and counts. Francis okay do we know this flu vaccine will be available locally if it's not available locally already it should be very soon Ali if I'm actually going to be at Austin Regional Clinic on Monday and going to be asking about it so I'll let you know if they have it sorry I didn't want to questions and scroll function is Antoinette live okay that we aren't planning on collecting flu shot records we just would really like everyone to get them see what do I have I'm going to say anything that involves like what's going to go on in the classroom with curriculum the schedule that's really outside of the medical aspects and so I'm a mess does questions go to Barbara and yes actually it would be mandatory that they wash their hands and use sanitizer 670 questions okay the contaminated side of the Mask you know what that depends on who you are if it's you or mask the outside is the contaminated side if it's someone else's masks and over exert your own mask is the outside really that you should avoid touching now if you touch the inside of your mask you should still wash your hands but that's just contaminated by yourself trying to get to other questions so there's a question about the quarantine after exposure or symptom onset so it's different if you quarantine is if you've been exposed and don't have symptoms quarantine is 14 days cuz that's roughly the incubation. So we wait the 14 days to make sure you don't get sick now if you have symptoms the current CDC recommendation is that you need to be isolated for at least 10 days and be fever free 24 hours without these medications and have an improvement in symptoms so I hope that clarifies that most classrooms are not have sinks when you take turns going bathroom to wash hands at times you know what I believe so don't have to be a rotating schedule maybe use of hand painted Kaiser that's the reason why we're starting out with a very small amount of kids so that we can try to work out these protocols more dealing with a small number because some of that stuff is going to be to get up here learn as you go how to make this okay when it comes to the transition from half-day to full-day what you're going to need to talk to Barbara about that one that's a much more of a curriculum question and did not know the answer to that there's Aftercare questions I can tell you after care is in the works we if we understand that people do need after care we would really prefer to see people using a solution on campus rather than using something outside and it would it would not necessarily be tied to a certain CDC stage wood upset still within the percentages so but again I can see that's in the works but I don't have a definitive answer for you right now sorry it's so many questions just kind of hard to scroll to the mall I'm sorry I'm just having a hard time with the scrolling there's so many and trying to pick ones that I think are good ones that the group would really be in in hearing do you envision dividing a new policy guidelines regarding a student travel during Thanksgiving or winter break required to quarantine or will need to ensure a safe return to everyone you don't that it kind of it really depends on the state of things I mean if things are if we're still in a level of significance be any transmission especially where the person is going to that very well may be something that we need to consider doing and again the ones that are about you know the type of learning those are really more for Barbara and I think it's this point in time again the number of questions there's an awful lot of thumb I think what I'm going to need to do is wrap that up and then find another way to get these questions do you okay okay yes can I just mention when we talked about the hand sanitizer one thing I didn't mention was that I can't hear you what's a hand state with the hand can you hear me now with the hand sanitizer when we use it we put on a little bit just like we do with the soap washing her hands but then and we rub our hands in the same way and we watch the back in the front or nails are fingers but the way we know that we're finished it takes about 20 seconds for the hand sanitizer to dry when it's dry then we had an effective hand wash with the hand sanitizer thank you said there's so many questions here that I don't think I can really effectively answer them I think what I'm going to do is take these and we're going to find a way to get these answers to you so cuz we're coming up on about an hour let me see that is so hard to find okay so again I will find a way to get to the dancers like to you probably will directly and I said thank you for your time thank you Mr Porter lovely presentation and you have a good evening
